A BAKER’S DOZEN OF PIES TO TRY ON INTERNATIONAL PI DAY

Today, March 14 (3/14) we celebrate International Pi Day!

The small technicality of the American formatting of the date should in no way stop us from celebrating the transcendental number that is pi. And what better way to do that than with its delicious homonym, pie?

Join us for an all-day, all-pie tour of downtown Toronto for just a sampling of the diverse international flavours that make this city a great place to eat.

Hope you’re wearing your stretchy pants – your circumference is about to grow exponentially!

A TTC day pass will allow you unlimited rides on the TTC all day. You can get one for $12.50 from TTC stations and various vendors across the city.

It may not be sensible to eat 13 pies in a day, but pi is irrational.

NORTH AMERICA – WANDA’S PIE IN THE SKY

We’ll start in Kensington Market, an eclectic market area full of history, fruit stalls, bars, and restaurants. You’ll find many bakeries to choose from, but today we’re going to Wanda’s Pie in the Sky. A bit of an institution around these parts, Wanda’s serves all types of sweet pies, depending on what’s in season, including vegan and gluten-free options. Today they’ve baked specially-decorated and square-shaped pies for Pi Day, so make sure you drop by! Try their Ontario Sour Cherry pie—it’s beautifully tart.

Address: 287 Augusta Ave

TTC: 506 College streetcar/505 Dundas streetcar/510 Spadina streetcar.
