14 Reasons Why You Should Go On A Canada Road Trip With Our Editor

If you have not taken a road trip in Canada, I highly recommend doing so as soon as possible. It doesn’t need to be a long one; an overnighter is a good start. I should warn you though, going on a road trip can be an addictive endeavour. A Canada road trip, especially.

From the cold waters of the Pacific Ocean (did you know it’s roughly 9ºC warmer than the Atlantic Ocean?) and the majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, grassy plains and lakes by the thousands. The ruggedness of the territories and the jaw-dropping landscapes of the East Coast. Canada is stunning.

Over the years, I have taken a road trip in every Canada province, as well as two territories. I’ve driven from Southern Alberta to Vancouver, BC and Toronto, ON to Quebec City, QC so many times I could do each route in my sleep. I almost hydroplaned in Newfoundland and got hopelessly lost in the middle of the night in Nova Scotia. I’ve slept in the parking lots of gas stations and coffee shops; I may have also received a few speeding tickets along the way (more on those below).

And I’m just talking about my road trips in Canada; don’t get me started on the ones in Mexico, Europe and Central Asia or the Canada!

Here are 15 reasons why you should go on a Canada road trip with me, or go on your own and use the list below for inspiration!

1.) There Is No Such Thing As A Bad Route

Canada Road Trip - No Such Things as a Bad Route

Every route is a good route, as long as you have an open mind and a thirst for adventure. Freeways can keep your travel time down, as long as you don’t run into traffic jams or construction. Smaller highways can be slower at times, but they also offer an opportunity to slow down and make random detours.
