5 Best Places to Book a Coffee Date in Charlottetown, PEI

#2) Beanz Espresso Bar & Café

A post shared by Beanz (@beanzespresso) on

Beanz Espresso Bar & Café on Great George Street caters to the early-morning crowd. It opens at 6:30 am. – but bear in mind it closes at 5 pm on weekdays, 4 pm on weekends. So forget it if you’re looking for a rendezvous spot for an evening Tinder date. In addition to killer salads and veggie burgers that actually have crunch, I’d also recommend any incarnation of Beanz’s chilled coffee: Iced chai or iced mocha.  Soy and almond milk are available.

Clientele most likely to read:  Toronto-based André Alexis, who won the 2014 Scotiabank Giller Award for “Fifteen Dogs,” would be chuffed to know his tale about “dogs with human emotions and the ability to think” is popular down on Prince Edward Island. I spotted three patrons reading Alexis’ book during my one-week stay in Charlottetown.

His last (most memorable) meal: “After a long hike in Europe during which I only ate healthy food, I found myself at Gatwick Airport and there in front of me was a Jamie Oliver restaurant offering a traditional English breakfast. I ate fried everything!”
